All ABOUT ME, THE CAKE ARTIST!
Hello! I'm Mindy Port, the cake artist here at Momma Port's Cakes.
I am a wife & a mother of FOUR amazing handsome boys #bragging. When I'm not baking & decorating a cake or making some yummy homemade marshmallow fondant I am hanging with the boys & that definitely doesn't include folding laundry (just ask my husband!).
I have always had a passion for making cakes. My Grandma made cakes and that's where it all started. I spent so much time with her growing up. I remember going with her to deliver wedding cakes. I always thought it was so exciting to see her in action! I miss her so much; she was my best friend!
In the last few years I have learned a great deal about cake decorating. Let's not get into how long it took me to learn how to get my buttercream smooth as a babies bottom! Whew! Learning new techniques is super important to me. Cakes trends come and go, new fads are springing up everywhere, and some trends stick around for a very long time like the cute unicorn cake!
My favorite thing to hear is, "I'll give you creative freedom!". I am completely obsessed with making cakes and being able to express my creativity. It really is an art. Before I started making cakes for other people, I worked at a paint your own pottery studio for a couple years. It was so fun and I learned so many things that have stuck with me through this caking journey! Thanks Jeni!
I hope to soar through this journey and I am thankful & blessed to have so much support behind me along the way! I could have never done this without the support of my wonderful & sexy husband who has stuck by me through everything! Thank you all!
